iPad Air Review vs. iPad 4 & iPad Mini 2 Retina : Tablet Comparison

What’s up Nerdgasm Fans! You guys know I’m a total technology whore so when Christmas rolled around I couldn’t resist picking up the new iPad Air and iPad Mini Retina and I let my wife take her pick and she took the Mini which I was happy about because I really wanted the air (but you gotta let her choose right?). I’m really happy with the faster and light weight air then I was with the iPad 4 and despite all the new shiny the most important thing to me was the weight and lack of it in the Air. The iPad 4 felt like it was made out of gold it was so freaking heavy and it was bothersome to hold out and use for hours without resting it on something. The iPad air feels a lot more like the weight of the older iPad 2 I had and it makes it much more comfortable to use for hours on end.

I was surprised to learn the iPad Mini had matching specs to the iPad Air despite it’s much smaller size. The thing packs a crazy punch but to be honest I wasn’t a big fan of the retina display. It seems like some of the brightness, color depth and contrast has been lost with it. I’ve also seen some other people complain about the same thing but not everyone notices it.

I hope you guys enjoy this Apple iPad Air unboxing as much as I did making it. I really enjoy making videos for you guys and this is becoming quite the hobby. Check out my many other videos I have posted ranging from Gaming and unboxings to 3D printing and other nerd worthy ventures.

Thanks for dropping in and I hope you had a Nerdgasm!

Not having a screen cleaning cloth is nothing next to not including a set of ear pods. I'm going to buy the 128gb ipad mini retina, and I was disappointed that it wasn't going to come with a set of the new ear pods. I would think that if I plan on paying almost $900 tor a tablet, Apple would have at least thrown in a set of $30 headphones.

Just an FYI if you plug the disabled device into the computer that was previously sync'd with iTunes  the tablet will no longer be disabled.  You should get the passcode screen after the the unit is detected by iTunes.  Hopefully your Wife will remember the Passscode on the 2nd go-around. This will only work if the unit had previously been sync'd on iTunes.  Also as a side note I still cannot get around the fact that iOS 7 does not include a calculator.  Yes one can be downloaded as a paid app or ad supported app.  I would expect that when paying a premium price one should at least get a calculator, why even the cheapest android devices and old flip phone included a calculator.  iOS 7 is the first OS on any platform that i'm aware of that does not include a calculator which erks me to no end.  I a the owner of a Mini Retina and love it other then the calculator absence

It doesn't come with a screen cleaner so that Apple can sell you one with their branding on it for $100.  And you have to buy the Apple one, because if you use any non-Apple accessories it voids your warranty.
