Not sure I understand what is going on here. I prefer to take your word on the sound. Going through the analog window plus mics, then digital compression on YT, then played on speakers not related in any way, it doesn't seem to make sense or add value to your review, or give us a true sense beyond maybe providing slight EQ profiles of the drivers?

I have the SR60e, not for critical listening but for sitting on the patio throwing a few back and chilling. “One bourbon, one scotch” and one pair of (mother eff’n attached wire) Grados!!!

These Cans are for broad spectrum listening. I have the 60s and love my Krautrock. Likes of Can, Kraftwerk, Harmonia, Jane etc etc all sound great. Then I can even slap some RTJ through them and I still get enough production bass to make me happy apart from the occasional diver buzz from sub low end.

Z, you know what makes this so hard to judge is, you've played so many high quality cans that can stand out one way or another but these just sound average with no distinction compared to the majority of your demos. Not a fan on on ear and I recall from many other reviews is that their uncomfortable for long periods unless you have a small head. Seriously not for V shaped or bass fans. Sound clean and detailed through the SHP's but lack luster overall due to lack of bottom end.

I've heard that only the cable quality is different between the two types. I also have a GRADO sr60, I really like it. Listening to the test, the bass of sr80 a little better.

Sounds lifeless past like 7khz, shouldnt these have more upper treble? seemed mid forward and lower treble seems kinda rough, pretty good on the slower more acoustic tracks though.
