I think most people who buy this aren't switching from a flagship, but rather coming from another mid range or budget phone that's a few years old. I'd love to see how this compares speed-wise to similarly priced phones. We know the camera and screen will likely be better, but is the difference in processor and ram large enough to have a significant impact on the purchase decision compared to similarly priced-phones?

If I hadn't JUST purchased an S10+, I definitely would've gotten this phone instead.
The normal Pixel 3 and 3XL have too many shortcomings when it comes to flagship prices.
But at this low to midrange price, you're getting a pretty good deal!

I’d love to try this, but android lacking secure facial unlock at this point is sad…face ID is easy to use and works every single time (unlike touch ID, which thanks to severely burned fingers NEVER works for me on any bio reader).
If a pixel ships with a secure version of face ID, I’m sold.

I bought mine the night of the release date. Had a lot of people say it's going to be super laggy. I just want to say, my V40 that I set down to pick this up, was very laggy, this has been literally buttery smooth, maybe it's because it's so new, but the one in my hand has been iPhone smooth every step of the way. Not killing backround apps, apps open not instant but plenty quick enough, and the feel is just fine in the hand just not cold to the touch.

Fast software updates is huge. And I always thought someone should do a cheap phone with a good camera. Covers the bases for me. Maybe make proper front facing stereo speakers in the next one and it would be a great for people who focus on audio and visuals.

Most important to me … Does opening the Camera app still kill my music/podcast playback due to memory management issues? The Google Camera apk port for my Essential phone has the same effect but not with the stock camera app.
