(The camera is rebranded as Boblov on Amazon)

If you use the eBay seller and want to try and avoid potential customs charges – then don’t use the fast delivery courier options – couriers always attract customs charges)

I HAVE MADE A FOLLOW UP VIDEO with some HINTS & TIPS for this camera – here https://youtu.be/jb4PSB-4z6A This video includes a demonstration of the CPL Filter.

I cannot report on the long term reliability of a product that has only been on the market a few weeks…but I do hope it carries on working for a long time, as I really like this one and plan on buying more.

Extra info – did you notice the camera automatically removes the fisheye effect from the video?

The discontinued DDPai M6, in summer 2019, is still available from eBay and one UK supplier. Still seems a good choice.

As mobile phones "do everything" I wondered about setting up the mobile phone for navigation and dashcam. I installed Android Auto which has large buttons, voice control and opens up the Waze or Google maps and plays music. I also installed AutoBoy Blackbox to act as dashcam. My phone has a 23Mp camera so HD recording are good. Reflection from the windscreen of the Smart Roadster are only seen in some direct sunlight. Switching applications may stop music playback or pause the video recording. It is not easy to get both running. It does work. The mount fits on the dash infront of the vent (some cars have a pair of gauges in that position) and connected to the earphone 3.5mm jack and USB-C.

Connected to the radio via the aux input and powered from the lighter socket running a playlist, navigation and dashcam the mobile phones gets hot, very hot. It then switches of the camera to cool down but remains hot for a long time. The mobile phone dischargers faster than the charger can keep up from the lighter socket. After about 90 minutes the phone powers down.

Quick update for anyone looking to buy this unit. I bought one two years ago based on this video. It work really well and I had no trouble with it for 18 months. Up to the point I needed to remove it from the screen to swap cars all was well. Then with only a gently tug, the plastics for the fixing body/ball joint crumbled. It looks like the UV killed the plastic. However the unit still works, just flops about now.

I think you'll find that you've contradicted yourself here! You state that 1 of the things that you 'liked' about its design? was that it has a quick release mount so it is quick and easy to remove 'if you are concerned about possible theft etc. But then you go and say that you also like this dash cam because it has a 'parking mode' feature? Sorry but if you go and remove it from your windscreen? that parking mode becomes void and worthless. Recording quality wise? I've seen just as good results from other dash cams which are considerably cheaper than this 1( AND other more expensive dash comes too)/ie, Mio Mivue are a cheaper dash cam with truly excellent picture quality!

Bought one of these for my daughter based on this recommendation; recently found it still in its box so I thought I'd install it. Firmware was out of date, and the android app doesn't like that. But as it was and therefore quite old, the app couldn't seem to do the upgrade. Contacted DDPAI support, they quickly emailed me an updated firmware ( to copy to the SD card and boot the camera with. Booted, updated, all is good apart from it's now decided that whatever SD card you install is 'faulty' and must be reformatted. Reformatted cards are also 'faulty' (they're not, the laptop reads them OK). DDPAI support are not replying to emails now. I've tried the original 64Gb SHXC card I bought for the camera, a 32Gb SDXC card and (just) a 16Gb SDHC card in case it was the FAT32 formatting that the camera does that was causing the problem (SDXC cards are formatted EXFAT). Nope. Wasted far too much time and effort on this now.

purchased two of these dash cams, great camera except for one fatal flaw.
because the camera runs so hot the lens fogs up on the inside and forms a halo affect blocking out the centre of the screen.got on to the manufacturer complete waste of time.
so dont waste your money on this camera.

After 3 years of use in my GMC Sierra 4×4 that I have 2 DDPAI M6+ (one pointed forward one pointed backwards) I have to say that I am very pleased with them.
I drive rough ungraded gravel roads a lot and not at slow speeds. If they will stand up to what I put them thru and keep on working perfectly you guys in the city should do very well with them. Absolutely worth the money!!!!!

My car was in an accident where a guy rear ended me and totaled my car. Now I need a new mount as I cannot dislodge it from my windshield. Anyone know where I can buy one?

Isn't the M4+ basically the same as the M6+? Have you considered a review of the M4+? I'm considering fitting a dashcam and this and the Yi Ultra 2.7K are both on my list. I like the Nextbase 612GW with the 4K video quality and the built in polarizing filter but I can't justify the cost even though I can easily afford it. I would buy something purely on the strength of your reviews which is testament to your honesty. The only other problem I have is the fact that I have a Windows phone and the apps only work with Apple or Android phones so I may have to ditch the Windows phone at some point.
