Best Student Laptop (2020) | Honor MagicBook 14 Review

W3Schools

Review of the Honor Magicbook 14 (2020) AMD Ryzen model, one of the best laptops for students thanks to its respectable specs, smart design and budget price. If you need a lightweight notebook for everyday multi-tasking, the Honor Magicbook will definitely sort you out from just £549 in the UK.

Overall, this is basically a repurposed Huawei Matebook D 14, with a few little tweaks here and there. Although not exactly ultraportable, this laptop weighs just under 1.5kg and its 14-inch frame slips into a bag with ease. You get a Full HD screen that’s sharp and good enough for movies and photo editing, although the colour reproduction isn’t natural. So creative users may wish to look elsewhere.

Still, the AMD version of the MagicBook 2020 sports a Ryzen 5 2500U chipset and Vega8 graphics. It can cope with everything up to light gaming, while the Intel model offers better life. All the same, I got around 7-8 hours of mixed use from a full battery.

Students will also love the quiet, comfortable keyboard, rounding off a solid everyday laptop to take wherever you roam. Check out my reviews of rival notebooks like the Chromebook Go to see more top options.

So, I have 1 question. I'm starting a new study after the summer (real estate) and I need a new laptop (no budget, dont really care about price) and I only need it for word/ excel/ powerpoint, mayby a little SkechtUp but thats about it. I just need a light, and fast laptop. I've been thinking about getting a Huawei Matebook X Pro 2020. But I kinda like this one.

Which one would you guys recommend? (My apologies in advance for any grammer mistakes, i'm from the Netherlands! ✌
